New features, improvements, and fixes — updated as we ship.

NewImproved

More source file formats for transcripts and notes

Data2Slide now handles more of the files people bring from meetings, transcript exports, and internal systems. Transcript-style files are cleaned before generation so timestamps and caption markers do not clutter the deck.

Upload VTT, SRT, RTF, JSON, and HTML files directly in Composer

  • Added support for VTT and SRT transcript files, including cleanup for captions, sequence numbers, and timestamp lines
  • Added support for RTF notes, JSON exports, and HTML files as readable source material
  • Composer now accepts the new file types directly from the upload picker and drag-and-drop flow
  • If a prompt references attached or supporting material but no readable file is detected, Composer now asks before generating from the prompt alone
  • Unsupported file types show a clearer message listing the formats Data2Slide can read
ImprovedFixed

Recurring templates now preserve saved report structure

Recurring report templates are now stricter and more predictable. When you select a saved template, Data2Slide uses the saved report JSON as the base and asks AI to fill only the allowed data and content fields.

Fresh data fills the same saved template instead of regenerating the deck from scratch

  • Saved recurring templates now keep slide count, page order, page types, component layout, chart types, theme, and saved FORMAT styling more reliably
  • Template-based generation now asks AI for constrained fill updates instead of a full new deck, reducing drift like renamed sections, changed chart types, or unexpected extra slides
  • Backend validation applies template updates through a strict whitelist so AI cannot modify locked structure fields such as layout, component type, span, chartType, page type, or theme
  • Style edits made in the editor or FORMAT panel can still be saved into a new template, and those saved style patches are copied into reports generated from that template
  • Normal Dashboard and Demo Day generation remain flexible when no saved recurring template is selected
NewImproved

Paste files and upload Word documents in Composer

Composer now fits more naturally into everyday work. Paste screenshots or copied files directly into the input box, or upload a Word document when your source material lives in a written brief, proposal, meeting note, or report.

Start a deck from the files already in your clipboard

  • Paste screenshots and copied files directly into Composer instead of saving them first and using the upload button
  • Upload DOCX Word documents as source material for a new presentation
  • Large Word documents are handled through the same document-friendly flow as longer PDFs, so bigger briefs and reports are easier to turn into slides
NewImproved

Recurring report templates for fresh weekly data

Saved templates are now built for recurring reports: weekly sales updates, daily ops dashboards, marketing performance reviews, and other repeated workflows where the data changes but the report shape stays familiar.

Reuse saved report structures with new daily or weekly uploads

  • New Recurring Reports section in the Composer makes saved report templates visible below Audience instead of hiding them inside the upload box
  • Start from scratch remains the default, with an empty state that explains how to create a reusable report template
  • Save as Recurring Report in the editor now saves the latest report state before creating the template
  • Template saves now show success and failure feedback instead of silently closing the dialog
  • Recurring templates now store a report blueprint with slide count, page order, component structure, theme, and style patch metadata
  • Generation uses the saved blueprint to preserve KPI cards, chart/table placement, chart kinds, and summary sections more reliably with fresh data

PowerPoint export for finished decks

Data2Slide now offers a browser-side PowerPoint export for teams that need a .pptx handoff. The PPTX is generated from screenshots of your finished slides, while HTML remains the recommended format for local presentation fidelity.

Download a static PPTX alongside the high-fidelity HTML presentation

  • New PPTX button in the editor exports every slide as a full-page static image in a widescreen PowerPoint deck
  • PPTX export runs in the browser and shows progress while slides are rendered, captured, assembled, and downloaded
  • Exported PPTX slides are intentionally not editable; make changes in the Data2Slide editor, then export again
  • HTML download is still the best local format when you need exact fonts, animations, chart interactivity, and maximum visual fidelity
  • PPTX export uses safer fallback font handling to avoid broken layouts when web fonts cannot be embedded consistently
ImprovedFixed

Better quiz and training deck handling

Training quizzes and pasted spreadsheet content are handled more carefully. Data2Slide now catches more unusable inputs before generation, avoids saving decks that only say no content was found, and can turn quiz-style slides into progressive reveal steps.

Cleaner spreadsheet checks, fewer empty decks, and quiz questions that can reveal step by step

  • Spreadsheet uploads now get stronger readiness checks for empty files, missing headers, malformed CSV rows, and sheets with too little usable content
  • If a quiz or worksheet cannot be identified clearly enough, Data2Slide asks for a cleaner input instead of generating a blank or confusing deck
  • Generation now rejects failed outputs like “No questions were found” before they become saved presentations
  • Demo Day training decks can convert quiz questions into reveal-steps slides, so learners see questions, options, or answers progressively instead of dense insight/takeaway cards
  • The AI editor understands natural requests like “show one question at a time” or “show questions first, then answers” and converts the current quiz slide into a step-by-step reveal format
NewImproved

Replace images directly from FORMAT

Image replacement is now a direct editor action. Select an image, upload a replacement, and DataSlide saves it into the current deck without asking the AI to rewrite the slide.

Upload a new slide image without spending AI editor tokens

  • New Replace image button appears in FORMAT when an image block or text-image visual is selected
  • Replacement images reuse the existing upload and compression flow, then save into the report assets folder for durable links
  • Image changes update the deck JSON directly, so replacing a picture no longer consumes AI editor tokens
  • Image blocks now support the same X/Y offset controls as other editable slide elements
  • Downloaded and shared decks have a cleaner floating navigation bar with slide dots, prev/next controls, and fullscreen presentation support
NewImproved

A clearer path from source data to finished deck

We made the first-run experience clearer so you can see what goes in, what Data2Slide checks, and what comes out before you subscribe.

Input readiness, full demo video, better generation progress, and a free starter deck

  • Added an input readiness section on the landing page to explain what kinds of files work well and when Data2Slide will ask for cleaner source data
  • Added a full walkthrough video on the Examples page showing source data, input checks, generation, and the finished editable deck
  • Improved the generation page so preparation steps appear one by one before backend analysis starts
  • New users can generate one starter deck for free, capped at 10 slides
  • Free and Starter reports are saved for 7 days; Pro reports for 30 days; Business reports are retained while active
NewImprovedFixed

Edit text and chart values directly on the slide

The editor feels more like a design tool — change words where you see them, update chart data with a click, and spend less time hunting through duplicate fields in the sidebar.

Click the preview to change copy or chart numbers; scale cards in FORMAT; cleaner sidebar

  • Click any text on the slide preview to edit it inline — titles, labels, bullets, and body copy update instantly and save to your deck
  • Highlighted text in insight and takeaway slides stays highlighted when you edit
  • Click a value on bar, line, or pie charts to change that data point — no need to scroll through the DATA panel
  • New Scale slider in FORMAT for KPI cards, chart cards, insight cards, takeaway cards, and table cards
  • Fixed: X/Y position offset in FORMAT now moves elements correctly
  • DATA panel focuses on structure and data — edit slide copy on the canvas instead of separate title fields in the sidebar
  • Insight and takeaway cards use a cleaner, less cluttered layout
  • FORMAT panel is simpler — fewer controls that got in the way while styling slides
  • Preview feels steadier while you edit — less jumping around as changes apply
FixedImproved

More reliable generation for big files and long decks

If you upload a long PDF or ask for a detailed deck, generation is much less likely to fail halfway through. We also fixed statement slides that sometimes showed up blank in Demo Day decks.

Large PDFs and complex decks finish more often; Demo Day statement slides render correctly

  • Long PDFs and large documents are much less likely to fail during generation — the process keeps running even when it takes several minutes
  • Complex decks with many slides or rich content complete more reliably than before
  • Paste a company URL and generation still researches the web for context — same workflow, fewer interruptions
  • Repeat generations feel snappier once the system has warmed up on your deck type
  • Fixed: Demo Day statement slides (chapter openers with a single bold sentence) no longer appear blank
  • Status updates stay connected longer before showing a timeout message — more room for big jobs to finish
New

AI single-page editor in the slide editor

Pro and Business subscribers can now describe changes to the current slide in plain English. The AI rewrites that page's JSON while leaving every other slide untouched.

Edit one slide at a time with natural language — data changes only, styling stays in FORMAT

  • New AI EDIT tab in the editor sidebar — chat with the assistant to update chart data, text, layout, and content on the active slide
  • Two-column editor layout: sidebar tabs for AI EDIT, DATA, and FORMAT beside the live preview
  • Per-slide conversation history — switch slides without losing each page's chat context
  • Pro plan: 60 edits per day; Business plan: 200 per day (resets at UTC midnight). Starter users see an upgrade prompt
  • Visual styling requests (font size, color, spacing, position) redirect you to the FORMAT panel instead of guessing via JSON
  • Image replacement: upload to R2, send the URL with your instruction — Claude writes the new image into the page JSON (no base64)
  • Edits auto-save to your deck; FORMAT overrides on that slide are cleared so the new layout renders cleanly
Fixed

Theme & chart fidelity in downloads and shared links

Several bugs caused the downloaded and shared HTML to look different from what you saw in the editor — wrong fonts, wrong gauge colors, wrong timeline bar colors. All fixed.

Downloaded and shared HTML now faithfully reproduces the theme selected in the editor

  • Fixed: downloaded HTML ignored the selected theme — a stale closure in the Download handler captured the initial null themeId instead of the one you chose
  • Fixed: Google Fonts links were stripped from all exported HTML, removing custom theme typography (Syne, DM Serif Display, Space Grotesk, Inter Tight, Playfair Display, etc.)
  • Fixed: gauge chart value labels used a hardcoded dark color (#1C1917) — on dark themes (Midnight, Pulse Dark, Zara Dark, Startup Bold, Swiss Green) the percentage text was invisible
  • Fixed: gauge arc colors in the deck ignored the active theme — threshold segments stayed red/yellow/green even when a theme was selected, instead of inheriting the theme's primary color
  • Fixed: timeline bar chart scrubber track and dots defaulted to ECharts blue in the default theme; they now use the warm orange (#C2693A) that matches the rest of the default palette
NewImproved

Gauge charts & smarter timeline bars

Time-series columns in your upload are detected before generation so bar charts animate across periods. Gauges highlight a single metric against a target or threshold.

Automatic multi-period detection, animated bar timelines, and gauge KPIs

  • Automatic timeline detection when CSV or Excel has 3+ periods (quarters, months, or dates) — AI is instructed to use animated bars, not a static bar chart
  • Timeline bar charts: ECharts scrubber with play/pause to step through each period
  • New gauge chart type for one KPI vs a target (e.g. satisfaction %, completion) with optional color thresholds
  • Updated AI chart rules: timelines when detection fires; gauges for a single metric with min/max and unit
NewImproved

Delete slides from the editor

You can delete the slide you are viewing without regenerating the deck. Presentation Mode and Mobile View toggles were removed from the status bar to make room.

Remove individual slides in one click; cleaner status bar

  • Delete current slide from the status bar — disabled when only one slide remains
  • Confirmation dialog before deletion; changes mark the deck dirty for auto-save
  • After delete, the editor focuses the nearest remaining slide
  • Removed hover × delete from the slide navigator — one clear delete action in the bar
  • Removed Presentation Mode and Mobile View buttons from the status bar
NewImprovedFixed

Large PDF & document support

Upload lengthy PDFs and large documents and get a full deck — the same flow as smaller files, without hitting size walls.

Turn long reports and big PDFs into slide decks

  • Generate slide decks from long PDFs and large documents
  • Fixed: some large PDF uploads failed during generation

Financial statement upload & mobile share view

Financial statement upload & mobile share view

CSV and Excel financial statements are recognized automatically and sent to AI with the right context. Mobile share links now render every new chart and Demo Day slide type as scrollable cards.

Upload income statements and balance sheets without false warnings; new slide types work on mobile

  • Financial statement detection for CSV and Excel — income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow
  • Recognized financial uploads skip the bad-data warning and pass context hints to Claude
  • Mobile share view renders all new chart types (funnel, scatter, heatmap, flow, Gantt) as cards
  • Mobile share view renders Demo Day slide types (statement, big-stat, quote) and content slides (team, timeline, org chart)
  • Fixed: mobile share page failed to load for decks using the new chart and slide types
New

Demo Day slide types & 6 new visual themes

Demo Day decks get three narrative-first slide types with large type and centered layouts. Six new visual themes cover both pitch storytelling and data dashboard styles.

Statement, big-stat, and quote slides — plus Editorial Ink, Pulse, Swiss Blue, and more

  • Three Demo Day page types: statement (chapter opener), big-stat (hero numbers), and quote
  • Six new visual themes: Editorial Ink, Editorial Kraft, Zara Dark, Pulse, Swiss Blue, and Swiss Green
  • Themes cover Demo Day and Dashboard styles — pick in Composer, switch anytime in the editor
  • Claude uses narrative slide types in Demo mode instead of dense dashboard layouts
New

  • Claude picks B-type slides when input is a URL, pitch deck, or company overview
NewImproved
Composer redesign — structure, theme & personal templates

Composer redesign — structure, theme & personal templates

The Composer now has three sections: structure template, visual theme, and your saved personal templates. Everything below the prompt — no extra AI cost for theme switches.

Pick deck type, visual theme, and saved templates before you generate

  • Structure templates: Dashboard (KPI + charts) or Demo (story + pitch)
  • 3 visual themes: Midnight, Clean Light, Startup Bold — switch anytime in the editor StatusBar
  • Save any deck as a personal template; reuse structure in Composer Section 3
  • Drag and resize slide elements; image scale control in the FORMAT panel
  • Fixed: shared reports loading stale versions; desktop share page fallback
NewImproved

Smarter generation — bigger decks & web search

Generation now scales with your subscription tier and can research a company URL before building your deck.

Plan-based token limits and automatic company research from URLs

  • Dynamic max_tokens by plan — Starter 20 slides, Pro 30, Business 50
  • Paste a company URL or name; Claude uses web search to pull official info
  • SSE status updates while searching: "Searching for company info…" and "Analyzing content…"
  • Theme colors sync correctly across all chart types
